So I was bored the other night and started thumbing through the apps for the reality. To my surprise there was "Verizon Opera Mini" on the front page. First time noticing it so not sure when it was released. A couple FYIs for the people looking to get it. Once I downloaded the app. I was unable to find it again under the browser on the phone but was able to find it using the browser on my PC. Also when I downloaded it the download failed a couple times before it completed. I had good service so not sure what that was all about.

The browser itself seems quicker with the mobile sites though when loading nonmobile sites it does seem to load slower than the default browser but once the page actually loads opera navigates through those nonmobile sites a lot smoother I think. Another thing I noticed is I am not able to access wellsfargo's site with opera mini. I am still able to access it through the default browser. Hopefully this will be fixed.

Verizon Opera Mini is a water down version of the PC web browser Opera.  Much like all web browsers now it allows for tab browsing. It still doesn't support flash or anything of that nature but still it is a much faster web browser than the one that came with the phone. Also it is completely free minus data charges for the download of course if you don't have a plan or go over while downloading it.

nice going, this is a much better browser than the one that comes on the phone.

now I've got to find a way to make my defaulted browser...  my current best solution is adding it to my shortcut menu

What am I doing wrong?  I can't seem to get this to work.  I have tried a few different ways.  I don't get a drop-down box to show up.

These are not widgets on your phone these are called "speed dials" when you open up the opera mini browser the main page has nine little "speed dials" those are what you can remove and replace with your favorite sites

How do you add it to your shortcut menu? I can only access it from the Media Center.

first, add the widget menu (orange box with blue arrow in the sidebar) to your home screen, then tap on the gear to add/remove widgets
