I wanted to know how the touchscreen accuracy and responsiveness are from those who have owned their Reality for a long time.

Thank you!

still works great for me - no problems.  I've also got a protective screen to help preserve that as well.

I have had mine for 6 months, that is why i am on the forum, trying to figure out how to recalibrate it. It is so far off I can't get incoming messages, I am sure there is a fix somewhere, I just have to find it:(

Thank you both. This is the same difference in experiences that I've read on other forums about this phone, and this difference is why in the back of my mind I'm still a little concerned about the decision I made to purchase two U370s (the re-issue of the Reality).

As a precaution, I put Verizon brand display protectors onto the U370s right away.

I also read an interesting speculation on this forum that maybe certain snap-on cases might be (partially) to blame for the touchscreen problems:

I've had this phone almost a year and suddenly my touch screen is all out of whack. I tried to calibrate it but when I touch the target, it does not precede to the next target. I have been using a screen protector for most of the time that I've had the phone. I tried taking out the battery and pressing the power button without the battery in. Nothing is resetting. What can I do? I really liked this phone up until now!

the life of the phone is going to be equivilent to how well you take care of it - getting a protective film screen, placing it in a case, not dropping it, keeping it dry, etc will help ensure the longevity of this phone (or any electronic device for that matter).

as for fullofjoy's issue, try resetting the defaults using the keys in the slider

I have had fits with this phone.  My first Reality began to drift out of calibration several months after I have purchased it.  This phone was treated very well and had a clear screen protector on it but no phone cover or case.  It would not let me recalibrate (the target would just turn red when touched instead of blue).  It got so bad that I could not use the dialer-menu bar along the bottom (just answer calls and call back).  So I called in to Verizon and one of their tech spent along time trying all the things I had and ended up shipping me a new phone.  The replacement has lasted about a year and now it is doing the same thing.  This time it won't work to get a replacement on warranty as it has a cracked screen and there isnt a chance of convincing Verizon that the cracked screen doesnt have anything to do with it, although the screen was cracked for a couple of months before an sign of its acting up. Sad

I decided to call Verizon about my touchscreen problems. They had me do some things over the phone, but none of them helped, so as it turned out I had three weeks left on my warranty. They sent me a refurbished model and it is working fine. I sent back everything but the battery and the back cover which I put on the "new" phone.

Yeah, well my warranty was up I just went and got a new phone (Intensity II) over the weekend.  I don't like the features and layout as well but I am not ready to invest in another touch screen till they are reliable.  Good luck to you and as for the original question that started this thread my observation is, some have good luck with the Reality touch screen but a significant percentage are having troubles.  I don't know if Samsung has address these issues in more recent models.  We will likely never know because if they claim to have made corrections then they also are admitting their phones had problems and they would have to accept the liabilities that come with that admittion.  Time will tell if new models are better.
