Haha that's what I asked myself, which I'm 99% sure that a firmware or even a software update can't fix how hot the battery gets.  But I figured I'd share the other details regardless of it would or wouldn't fix my personal problem.

I thought one of the selling points of the Reality was the supposed "over the air" updates? Was I reading it wrong?
I may be wrong, but I believe you can't do over the air firmware updates, which is a core element to the OS. I believe the "over the air updates" meant for apps.

Pretty sure the phone has to be powered off to flash the firmware (SMEs will chime in to correct me if I'm wrong).

I just hit the Verizon store CS a couple times a year and have them flash my phone .... though I will say it's scrambled my contacts more than once.
OK, I'm correcting the above. Talked to Tech Support last night and asked the question "exactly what gets updated by "over the air update"? He said the firmware does get updated. He also noted that he's pretty sure you get a text msg that says a new update is available.

We'll see, huh?

Thanks for the update Wrath-of-hell, I guess we will see. I can't wait for an update, I think we need a "To Do" widget also. So maybe they will make more widgets available or at least some apps wouldn't hurt.

That's great to know WOH!
Thanks for that info!
Question about the flash within the Reality..is that something that can be updated as well? I have noticed that a lot of sites give me that "Flash version" not supported..or something to that effect...

Yea, Flash support is also just a software thing, The Browser's software would need to be updated.. for support of a version of Adobe Flash higher then the current Lite version...  You will see more and more phones with higher flash ability in early 2010.. and yea hopefully this will be part of the first Reality update.. wishful thinking (to be included) on my part?? We'll see..................

So...if the Reality is "hacked" so to speak, that enables you to basically use whatever you want on the phone as far as browser & flash goes? Why are these phones locked this way & put us customers at a disadvantage?

Well if we were able to get into the 'brew' folder and upload programs into it..  Verizon would lose out big time...  Hence, its "LOCKED" ....  Many phones in that past have been hacked or the 'brew' folder was unlocked..
This happening to the Reality all depends on how widely popular our phone becomes... the more popular, the more phone enthusiasts will try and open it up some....  usually a phone might get opened to the point that you may not be able to mess with the 'brew' folder, But you would be able to use programs like Bitpim to manage your Contacts, Photos, Ringtone, Sounds, etc .. (the ones on the phone itself, not on the MicroSD card) through the USB cable...........   Could do this stuff on the Moto Razr I had.......

Yeah i remember my razor...it sure was fun to change around some of the otherwise locked features of the phone...hopefully the reality is a hit..so far it appears that it is.
