Yes. The new info is wait...   Grin

Meanwhile you can compare with other Samsung CDMA handsets like R810 or others... how many Firmware Versions you know, before handset is tooooo old and discontinued.  Shocked

You could write to Verizon and ask them. Why Samsung not fix Bugs or improve something on U960 to release new Firmware...

Best Regards

Before the Realitys the wife and I had Samsung Hues.  My phone never did update but the wifes did about 6 months after we got them, they had serial numbers about 20 apart.  I would check for updates every 2 or 3 months on both.
Strange.
Phones aren't motherboards or cameras they get firmware updates regularly.  I have motherboards that have had as many as 10 firmware updates.  My Nikon DSLR got a firmware update when the next model came out that added some of the fearures of the new camera.
I really don't expect much from Samsung or Verizon, possibly a bugfix if there turns out to be some big bugs.
The problem with phones in general is the Service providers have turned them into throwaways.  New every 2 means most people will put up with a lot, knowing that a new better phone is only 17 months away.  So why fix the issues?

But it is strange...

As for example LG VX11000 has few updates... for Verizon...
VX11KV03_06.bin
VX11KV04_01.bin
...
V07

Few are leaked... but seems also official Update over the Air... also for several other LG CDMA...  Huh

LG seems better support their BREW handsets.  Cool

So I think Verizon is not the "bad guy"...

From Samsung very rare Firmware are available... in USA.

But in Europe it is really funny strange. As for GSM handsets from Samsung are MANY Firmware leaked AND also for self update (legal public).
 Cool

@ ikaikajower

Not expect toooo much for your U960 "soon"...  Cry

Well I have spent about an hour trying to figure out what was updated. I seen another post here saying they thought U-tube was better so I went there and maybe its a little better but I did not really have problems with it before. I did notice that it seems you can fast foward a vid now where as before I could not. I will keep trying to figure some others out.

I called Verizon and asked them what was included in the update. He said that he could not tell me the details of the update but he could tell me that it included something for bluetooth, battery life, menu updates, and bug fixes. What is the big secret? I did notice that I had 3 bars of charge before my update and I had 4 bars after the update. So hopefully the battery charge will last longer now.

Hey JP.. Update was a long time in the waiting...    I have yet to find and 'visual' or functional differences, except the email beep thing....
Keep us posted if you happen to find any other changes....   Going to see if I can find a new features or bug fix list......

Has anyone tried sending a +160 chars text message since the update? I received a text from verizon on Monday saying that text messages to non-verizon customers is now set to a 1120 character limit (raised from the old limit of 160), yet when I tried texting a friend I was still limited to 160 (I got the text back from verizon saying "anything over 160 characters will be discarded" etc). I emailed verizon asking about this and they said it was "dependent upon the capability of the handset" and suggested I call their customer support (not going to sit on hold for 20 minutes, then talk to some non-english speaking tech support person that probably won't help anyways).

Then I checked and saw an update for the phone. Thought that maybe the update had something to do with their increased character limit.

when I'm typing out a text it still counts and shows 160 as the limit. I have not tried to send one over the 160 yet.

I noticed that, but figured it may still say that because most other carriers have a limit of 160. I'm starting to think verizon just doesn't have their **** together. Why would it depend on my phone if I'm sending a message to someone and my NETWORK texts me back saying the message was too long? They said it was effective 01/19... that was over a month ago.

How would I go about updating the software on my reality?

Thanks,
